Last week, we hosted our egg Homes & Interiors event. A first of its kind, we brought together egg partners, egg members, and all round great eggs from our community to shop and showcase incredible products and services. And we heard all the interiors insider info you could wish for from renowned BBC’s Scotland Home of the Year presenter, Anna Campbell-Jones. Let’s tell you a bit about it.
We kicked off at 5:30pm (yes, we heard you eggs and we made it an evening event so we could all grab a glass of fizz and kick back to relax after work!), and our guests wandered around the colourful, eclectic mix of egg partner stalls. We were in the beautiful Scotsman Hotel, which was the perfect central spot to come together with its own gorgeous interiors too - you must check out that marble staircase next time you’re in!
We had it all - from VR kitchen walkthroughs with Raison Home, curtain and wallpaper displays from Mairi Helena, original artwork from Graystone Gallery, luxurious bedding and throws out for guests to feel from Ava Innes, colourful ceramics of all shapes and sizes from Ella Fletcher Designs, samples, swatches and look books from Renée Turner Interiors, cosy rugs and scandi chic tableware laid out from Hen & Crask, mini model glam garden rooms from Outside In Garden Rooms to on-the-spot guest illustrations from the amazingly talented Ana Guajardo. Phew! That’s a lot!
And a big thank you goes to Gilson Gray as our Homes & Interiors event partners, who engaged the crowd with a quickfire myth-busting questions to bring to life what their amazing team can do for any eggs buying, selling or renting properties. They just celebrated their 10 year anniversary last week, so we were thrilled to keep the celebrations going at our event!
After some mingling, it was time to hear from Anna. She made us all laugh with her honest story of her career journey so far, what led her to creating her own micro brand, how she originally turned down being a presenter on SHOTY and what she gets up to in her spare time. Here are our top three interiors tips from her fireside chat with egg head, Kylie Reid:
🔥 “The sort of homes that don't feel warm are the ones that are designed to impress. It's less about focusing on what the neighbours say and more focusing on what makes you happy.”
🎨 Paint is the best budget-friendly way to transform your home. Pick your favourite colour, go a bit darker or brighter, and then slap it on your walls! You can always re-paint it in the future anyway!
🪴And finally, you heard it here first: “plastic plants are my bug bear.” Oh dear, time for us to recycle that one thriving Ikea plant in our egg & co-working space…
We wrapped up at 8pm, and it was then time to go home with new connections, new collaborations being cooked up, and new excuses about why our wallets were feeling lighter!
