The Women on Top Summit in September was unforgettable — a day full of energy, inspiration, and connection where 300 women, and a few babies, came together - shared their stories, left feeling empowered and inspired. Felt part of something.
In this new series we’re sharing stories of women who attended the Summit, how that day impacted them personally and professionally, and how their lives have changed since.
First up, we spoke to Megan Hughes, founder of Thundr Digital
What did you do before starting Thundr Megan?
I actually started out in law, where I developed a knack for problem-solving and helping people navigate complex issues. That background might seem a bit unexpected for digital marketing, but it’s been surprisingly useful! I eventually found my way into the digital space, and I haven’t looked back since.
And tell us more about Thundr!
Now, I’m the founder of Thundr Digital, where I get to combine that problem-solving knack with a real passion for business growth. We work across SEO, email marketing, PPC, social media management, and in-depth digital audits to help our clients not just follow trends but make real connections with their audiences.
I’m constantly learning and love diving into new marketing trends and strategies. If there’s a challenge to tackle or a new approach to try, I’m all in! Helping businesses shine online and turn goals into reality is what drives me every day.
What was your experience of egg before the Summit?
Before attending the Summit, I was a relatively new member of the egg community, but I had already seen how supportive and inspiring it is. I attended an egg partner event with Dolly Alderton, which was an incredible experience. Hearing Dolly speak about storytelling and navigating the professional world as a woman left a lasting impression on me. That event also gave me the chance to connect with other amazing women in business and feel the energy of this vibrant community.

What were your reasons for attending the Summit?
One of my business goals is to start getting Thundr Digital's name out there more and establish it as a trusted name in the industry. I knew that to achieve this, I needed to step out of my comfort zone and start attending more networking events where I could meet like-minded women and potential collaborators.
The Summit felt like the perfect starting point, not only to connect with other business owners but also to gain insights from speakers who have successfully built their own communities. I saw it as a chance to grow both personally and professionally while creating opportunities for the business to grow.
Did you make any new connections at the Summit? If so, how have they impacted you?

I made a new friend, Leona, who has become a big part of my journey. We’ve been meeting up regularly, sharing ideas, and cheering each other on—not just professionally but personally too. In fact, we even attended Women on Top November together, which was such a perfect way to wrap up the year!
For me, the Summit wasn’t just about business; it was about meaningful connections, learning, and growing with an inspiring community of women.
On the business side, attending the Summit has been a game-changer! I now have four egg members as clients for digital marketing services, spanning different areas we offer. It's been incredible to see how these connections have turned into meaningful collaborations and opportunities to help their businesses grow. The Summit truly reinforced the power of networking and building genuine relationships.
We built a bespoke platform allowing attendees to connect ahead of the event, how did you find it?
Amazing! I really enjoyed using the platform! I liked how you could see who was attending, which made it easier to connect with others beforehand. I reached out to a couple of women before the event and arranged to meet up, so it was great to already have familiar faces there. It definitely made the experience feel more welcoming and helped ease any pre-event nerves.
Stand out moment from the Summit?
One of the most impactful takeaways for me was from Sam Sheppard’s keynote on personal branding for introverts. She highlighted that personal branding isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not—it’s about embracing who you truly are and curating how you’re perceived. For introverts, this means leaning into authenticity rather than trying to fit into an extroverted mould.

This resonated deeply with me, especially as a business owner. It’s a reminder that showing up as my authentic self is enough to attract the right clients and opportunities. It’s also something I’m actively working on myself, building confidence in my voice and ensuring my personal brand reflects my genuine passion for helping others grow through digital marketing.
Her advice that “you can have an impact without changing who you are” is something I’ve taken to heart and am integrating into both my professional and personal life. It’s a journey, but one that feels empowering and incredibly rewarding.
Megan’s top tips for others who are looking to network and grow their community this year:
- Go all in - Make the effort to attend events, engage in discussions, and take advantage of every opportunity egg offers. The more you put into the community, the more you’ll get out of it. The more you put into the community, the more you’ll get out of it.
- Push yourself out of your comfort zone - Networking can be daunting, but egg is full of like-minded people who are there to support and learn from each other. Step out, introduce yourself, and share your ideas and goals.
- Make meaningful connections - Go beyond just exchanging business cards. Take the time to get to know people and form genuine connections. These relationships can turn into valuable partnerships, friendships, and even clients.
- Embrace the community - egg is an amazing space to grow both personally and professionally, so dive in and let the community be your support network!
Finally Megan, if you had to sum up the Summit in one sentence, what would you say?
The Summit was a powerhouse of inspiration, connection, and confidence-building for women in business.

Megan’s experience at the Women on Top Summit shows just how important the power of connection, the importance of community, and the incredible impact that stepping out of one’s comfort zone can have. Her story is just one example of how the Summit continues to inspire, support, and empower women to thrive in all areas of their lives. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Megan and the amazing women she’s meeting along the way.
