Stoats is an Edinburgh-born and based company that’s been quietly making its mark on supermarket shelves. While some might assume Stoats is a big player in the cereal bar aisle, the reality is they’re a small, passionate team committed to bringing you wholesome, delicious oat snacks that pack a seriously good punch. And everything is handcrafted in Scotland from their bakery in Loanhead, Midlothian.
“We’re proud to be an independent business without big corporate backing”, says fellow egg and Stoats director Olivia Stone. “We started out making porridge in food trucks, now we’re supplying supermarkets across the UK and internationally too. We’re the largest independent brand sold in the cereal bar aisles. It’s been a challenging but incredible journey.”
Olivia adds. “Standing alongside multi-national giants can sometimes feel like a David vs Goliath battle. The ‘big boys’ will often use aggressive tactics to try and push out smaller brands like ours but we are definitely fighting our corner! Stoats is holding its ground. With a product that not only tastes great but also offers fantastic value, every single purchase of a porridge pouch or oat bar means the world to us. We’ve had offers for equity and buyouts in the past, but we like being in charge of our own destiny.”
