Step Up, Speak Out and Show Up!

15 days agoPosted in Egg Updates

We celebrated International Women’s Day with an unforgettable Women on Top gathering at the W Hotel in Edinburgh. Lauren Currie OBE was our speaker in the spotlight, and wow, did she leave us all inspired!

Before Kylie interviewed Lauren, Kylie introduced egg and spoke about the Facebook group turning 10. She talked about the next chapter for egg, with a focus of helping women grow professionally.

The egg business club is a new space entirely dedicated to women around the world looking to grow and scale their business and a space where you can foster meaningful connections. Members enjoy exclusive access to workshops, events, and special discounts. Click here to learn more and join us!

As the founder of UPFRONT, Lauren is on a mission to transform confidence, visibility and power for 10 million women. And trust us, she delivered during our event! The morning kicked off with tea, coffee and pastries (because what’s an event without a good cuppa?), followed by some fun ice breakers to get everyone talking. Then, our very own egg head, Kylie, sat down for an inspiring conversation with Lauren, who had flown in from Sweden just for the occasion.

Lauren's Journey

Growing up in Kilmarnock, Lauren faced the challenges many young girls experience - being told she was “too big for her boots,” feeling like an outsider and navigating tricky social dynamics. But with years of self-work, coaching, and therapy, she found her voice and embraced her full potential. Inspired by watching her artist mother hustle, Lauren didn’t just build one business - she built six! But it’s UPFRONT that’s making the biggest impact yet, helping women step into their power with confidence.

Key Takeaways from Lauren

1. Network with Purpose. Your network should challenge, support and uplift you. Surround yourself with people who see your potential and encourage you to stretch beyond your comfort zone.

2. Confidence Isn’t Constant. Even the most confident people experience ups and downs. It grows by stepping into uncomfortable spaces.

3. “What Would Your Twin Brother Do?” A simple yet powerful question. If you’re doubting yourself, take a step back and ask what a male counterpart would do.

4. The World Isn’t Always Kind to Confident Women. Lauren shared how society rewards extroversion but often discourages women from taking up space.

5. Confidence is a Muscle - Use It! You don’t wake up one day magically confident. Confidence comes from trying, failing, learning, and trying again. As Lauren put it, “If you’re not cringing at something you did a year ago, you’re probably not pushing yourself enough.”

Breaking Barriers & Owning Your Worth

Lauren opened up about internalised misogyny, imposter syndrome and the outdated belief that women aren’t good with money. She shared how, growing up, she was led to believe that success and financial confidence weren’t meant for her. But she worked through it, built successful businesses and proved otherwise.

“28% of women who run their own businesses charge less than their male counterparts. Why? Because we’ve been conditioned to undervalue ourselves.” Lauren urged us to challenge that mindset and own our worth unapologetically.

The Power of Support & Delegation

Lauren stressed that leadership isn’t about doing everything yourself.

“What are you terrible at? For me, it’s spreadsheets and organisation - I don’t know where anything is! But I have people for that. Delegation isn’t a weakness; it’s a strategy.”

She also spoke about the transformative power of coaching. “Sarah, my coach, changed the game for me. Having a ‘believing mirror’ - someone who sees your potential even when you don’t is invaluable too.”

UPFRONT: Changing the Game

UPFRONT isn’t just a business; it’s a movement. Since launching in 2021, thousands of people have gone through their online learning experiences, designed to build confidence in a real, sustainable way.

Their programmes are giving women the tools to step up, speak out, and show up in their full power. It’s about unlearning internalised misogyny, rewriting the rules of leadership, building cultures where women thrive, and making confidence the norm - not the exception. Intrigued? Check out the newly launched Swift Strategy Bond about wealth, power, influence, and culture. In the words of UPFRONT, "Taylor isn’t just a pop star. She’s a masterclass in entrepreneurship, storytelling, reinvention, community building, and visibility." They have looked at the business lessons from Taylor Swift's career and turned them into a practical, strategic course for women - and it sounds pretty good to us!

Confidence is Contagious

Lauren left us with this final thought: “Confidence is infinite and contagious. If you’re kind, generous, and impact-driven, confidence helps you do more of that. If you want to help others, confidence gives you the tools to make a real difference. If you believe in a better world, confidence gives you the power to rebuild it.”

30 minutes of networking later and we left the session feeling fired up, ready to take on the world and already counting down the days until the next Women on Top event. If you weren’t there this time, make sure you don’t miss the next one - you won’t regret it! You’ll also be able to catch it on the ‘egg talks to’ podcast very soon!
